Race Council Cymru has secured funding from The Moondance Foundation to appoint a part-time Support Worker and Administrative Assistant at our Swansea Multicultural Hub, Grand Theatre Arts Wing.

The role focuses primarily on regenerating and running our Chai & Chat group for women from multi-ethnic backgrounds, alongside general administrative support for the Swansea office.

The Role

Part 1 · Chai & Chat Support Worker
Plan and deliver weekly group sessions, welcome and support participants, co-ordinate volunteers and speakers, and promote the group to around 60 members from diverse backgrounds.
Part 2 · Administrative Assistant
Provide day-to-day admin support across RCC’s Swansea office, maintaining records, managing enquiries, supporting project reporting, and assisting with events and communications.

Key Responsibilities

Community & Programme
  • Plan and run weekly Chai & Chat sessions covering local services, wellbeing, and cultural exchange
  • Welcome participants and ensure everyone feels included and supported
  • Book venues, arrange transport, and co-ordinate all group logistics
  • Work with volunteers, guest speakers, and partners to enrich the programme
  • Signpost members to relevant services and keep accurate attendance records
  • Promote the group in the community and manage the group budget
Administration
  • Maintain databases, records, and filing systems accurately
  • Provide reception cover as a first point of contact for office visitors
  • Assist with surveys, data collection, and social media reporting
  • Help organise workshops, cultural events, and publications as required

What We Are Looking For

Experience in community engagement, group facilitation, or support work with diverse communities

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and rapport quickly

Good organisational skills for planning sessions, co-ordinating resources, and managing logistics

Excellent IT skills and confidence with databases, email, and digital communications

Ability to manage your own workload, work to deadlines, and adapt to the group’s needs

Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping people feel connected and empowered

Pay £13.46 per hour
Accountable to RCC Strategic Support
DBS check Enhanced DBS required
