Introduction and Background

I’m Joy Ogeh-Hutfield, a multi-award winner, TEDx Speaker, Mindset Transformation Coach, and CEO of Joy Transformation International Leadership Academy. I’ve authored seven books and am an international speaker. Originally from Nigeria, I moved to the UK at age 16 and arrived in Swansea in 1997 with my husband Mark. We have three children.

Challenges Encountered

One of the main challenges has been the lack of equality and opportunity, especially in starting my training consultancy business. There was very little support available in the early stages.

Achievements and Contributions

I’ve been deeply involved in fostering confidence and leadership within the Chinese and African communities in Swansea. My mentorship and coaching have empowered many individuals to realise their potential. As a compere for the Chinese New Year celebrations, I’ve helped create a sense of joy and unity.

My support for the African community includes championing Black history, participating in the Black Lives Matter campaign, and being a founder member of the African Community Centre in Swansea. My role as a Board member of Black Voluntary Sector Wales further underscores my commitment to positive change.

In my previous role as Vice Chair of The Minority Ethnic Women’s Network in Wales, I advocated for inclusivity and gender equality. My women empowerment soiree events have helped local women unleash their potential and raised significant funds for women and children’s charities.

Engagement with the Local Community

I am dedicated to helping young people understand their purpose and reach their potential. I raise funds for charities like Swansea Women’s Aid and Faith in Families through women empowerment events. My work focuses on developing confidence, leadership, and personal growth among community members, always striving to foster unity and celebrate diversity.

Messages for the Community

Diversity should be seen as a mosaic of people from various backgrounds, beliefs, and talents. By valuing and respecting these differences, we broaden our perspective and truly appreciate the richness that diversity brings. It’s important that every member of our community feels empowered and valued. Remember, no one is insignificant.

Advice for Young People

Young leaders should focus on self-awareness, leadership, and practical success principles. With the right mindset tools, they can shape their future and their communities. I encourage young people to dream big, believe in their potential, and raise their standards to achieve success.

Llwyddiannau a Chyfraniadau i Abertawe

Rwyf wedi bod yn ymwneud yn fawr â meithrin hyder ac arweinyddiaeth o fewn y cymunedau Tsieineaidd ac Affricanaidd yn Abertawe. Mae fy mentora a hyfforddi wedi grymuso llawer o unigolion i wireddu eu potensial. Fel arweinydd ar gyfer dathliadau’r Flwyddyn Newydd Tsieineaidd, rydw i wedi helpu i greu ymdeimlad o lawenydd ac undod.

Mae fy nghefnogaeth i’r gymuned Affricanaidd yn cynnwys hyrwyddo hanes Pobl Ddu, cymryd rhan yn ymgyrch Black Lives Matter, a bod yn un o sylfaenwyr y Ganolfan Gymunedol Affricanaidd yn Abertawe. Mae fy rôl fel aelod o Fwrdd Sector Gwirfoddol Du Cymru yn pwysleisio ymhellach fy ymrwymiad i newid cadarnhaol.

Yn fy rôl flaenorol fel Is-Gadeirydd Rhwydwaith Menywod o Leiafrifoedd Ethnig yng Nghymru, bûm yn eiriol dros gynhwysedd a chydraddoldeb rhywiol. Mae fy nigwyddiadau soiree grymuso menywod wedi helpu menywod lleol i ryddhau eu potensial ac wedi codi arian sylweddol i elusennau menywod a phlant.

Rwy’n ymroddedig i helpu pobl ifanc i ddeall eu pwrpas a chyrraedd eu potensial. Rwy’n codi arian ar gyfer elusennau fel Cymorth i Fenywod Abertawe a Faith in Families drwy ddigwyddiadau grymuso menywod. Mae fy ngwaith yn canolbwyntio ar ddatblygu hyder, arweinyddiaeth, a thwf personol ymhlith aelodau’r gymuned, gan ymdrechu bob amser i feithrin undod a dathlu amrywiaeth.

Negeseuon i'r Gymuned ar Newid Agweddau Tuag at Amrywiaeth a Chynhwysiant

Dylid ystyried amrywiaeth fel mosaig o bobl â gwahanol gefndiroedd, credoau a thalentau. Trwy werthfawrogi a pharchu’r gwahaniaethau hyn, rydym yn ehangu ein persbectif ac yn gwerthfawrogi’n wirioneddol y cyfoeth a ddaw yn sgil amrywiaeth. Mae’n bwysig bod pob aelod o’n cymuned yn teimlo eu bod wedi’u grymuso a’u gwerthfawrogi. Cofiwch, does neb yn ddi-nod.

Cyngor i Bobl Ifanc

Dylai arweinwyr ifanc ganolbwyntio ar hunan-ymwybyddiaeth, arweinyddiaeth, ac egwyddorion llwyddiant ymarferol. Gyda’r offer meddylfryd cywir, gallant lunio eu dyfodol a’u cymunedau. Rwy’n annog pobl ifanc i freuddwydio’n fawr, credu yn eu potensial, a chodi eu safonau i sicrhau llwyddiant.
