About

The Race Council Cymru (RCC) is proud to announce the launch of its Equalities & Well Being Project. This project is aimed at providing support to disadvantaged ethnic minority communities and increasing inclusion, offering advice and assistance around equality issues, and support and guidance for those suffering from Hate Crime and Adverse Childhood Experiences.

The impact of COVID-19 on ethnic minority communities

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on many communities around the world, and ethnic minority communities have not been immune. With lockdowns, social distancing measures, and reduced opportunities for face-to-face interaction, many people from ethnic minority backgrounds have felt more isolated than ever before. In response to this, the Race Council Cymru (RCC) has received many enquiries requesting support and advice around equality issues, hate crime, and emotional well-being.

The role of the Equalities & Well-Being Support Officer

To address these challenges and support ethnic minority communities, the Postcode Community Trust has funded the creation of an Equalities & Well Being Support Officer. This specialist role will provide one-to-one advice and support, source services, and ensure that the diverse communities we support have a voice and feel part of their community. The support officer will reduce barriers, promote community integration, and improve well-being and cohesion.

Conclusion

The Equalities & Well Being Project has been a vital initiative that has made a real difference to the lives of many people from ethnic minority communities across Wales. The project has provided support, advice, and guidance around equality issues, hate crime, and emotional well-being. The Postcode Community Trust has supported the charity to demonstrate its commitment to create a more inclusive and equitable society. The project has enabled the Equalities & Well Being Support Officer to positively impact the lives of many people across Wales and help build a stronger, more connected  community.
