Race Council Cymru worked with South Wales Jamaican Society and Thornhill Community Centre to deliver an inclusive multicultural community event. The centre launched its very first Windrush Celebration Day with a mix of educational and inspirational speakers and music performances, to create a day of shared history teaching and learning about Windrush Generation and their descendants. We provided a celebration Caribbean lunch with drinks and deserts for the participants. History was shared amongst the variety of participants of all ages 3 (we had nursery children parading their flags at the event) to 90 year olds, from a diverse range of backgrounds. As well as the local community members and the Cymru Windrush Elders, there were representatives from a mix of organisations participating in the event.
